We are well aware that the One Fact team has been publicly quiet over the last several months. This was not because we have been idle :) ! You are now seeing the rollout of things One Fact has worked on. We have been working hard to truly open BridgePoint to this community. Together we will continue to improve, but we believe the tool is now positioned where any engineer with a desire to step in and contribute can do so.

As you may know, the One Fact team has a long history working together with the BridgePoint tool and on xtUML technology. Our team has used skype chat for inner-team communication for many years. We keep rolling chats on many topics. As BridgePoint has moved to the community we understand this communication mechanism is not longer a viable solution. Out “Team Communication” shall be opened to this community.

We are investigating many mechanisms for this for example: slack, hipchat, wordpress chat, cometchat, basecamp, zopim, and others.

We are excited about this move that will allow you vision into what has been our internal communication. Watch for news about this, and please jump in here with any suggestions!

    /Bob

Maybe consider a mailing list as well?

Thanks Travis. Of course notification like that is part of this forum.

The goal is to have a solution that will provide that for those who only want to participate “at a distance”, but also allow more dynamic, and shared communication, like our team has had with skype. Additionally, someone watching at a distance should be able to join in and see the communication chain when they do so. The downside of skype is that the chat (which is really data IMO) is essentially going into a black hole because it is stored in binary format on each participants local machine, and that is no longer acceptable.

The notification for these posts take to long for a communication solution. With skype it is instant, with mailing lists its instant. On this forum it takes 24 hrs before you get notification.

FYI, the issue tracking system does hold an issue where this is being investigated. Now that xtuml-org.hustlefish-sites.com improvements I moved that issue into it, so it is open to the public for feedback. Here it is: https://support.onefact.net/redmine/issues/710

We have selected http://www.cometchat.com/ to move our team communication away from skype and open it to the xtuml community. You will see, when logged in to xtuml-org.hustlefish-sites.com there is a chat bar at the bottom of every page. Additionally, on every page of xtuml-org.hustlefish-sites.com that has a side bar there is a link to the full-page chat popup https://xtuml.org/cometchat/cometchat_popout.php, and the xtuml-org.hustlefish-sites.com main page also includes a link. It has nice iphone and android apps too. You will see the One Fact team start using this chat. It will take some time though, we have been using skype for 10 years now :). I “seeded” the chats with topics named after the forum groups. However, feel free to chat new chat topics as you see fit. Enjoy! We will see how this works us :).

CometChat has been up for about a week now. We are tracking things we don’t like about it and problems in the issue tracking system using #7704 as a parent issue. https://support.onefact.net/redmine/issues/7704

Looking at the above issue allows you to see all “subtasks” (children of this parent). Please raise new issues as you see problems. I have now closed issue 710, described earlier in this thread. If we choose to abandon cometchat we will pick a suitable replacement, so regardless the communication is open now. I have been very happy to see many jump in already, and we didn’t even announce the feature yet :).
